Story
Hello all this is Nikki!
My mum has recently undertaken a trial with a sophisticated piece of kit to assist with blood monitoring in association with her insulin pump. The blood monitoring sensor is implanted under the skin and takes regular blood sugar levels throughout the day. These levels transmit to her insulin pump to be analysed. The sensor is not available on the NHS but can be purchased privately, the first 6 months purchase will cost £500. My mum has managed her diabetes so well over the past 32 years and on average she has had to needle prick her finger 12 times a day - that's roughly 140,000 needle pricks over the past 32 years to monitor her blood....hopefully this will be a thing of the past thanks to the aforementioned piece of revolutionary kit.

Unknown to my mum, one of her close friends (Hilary Usher) is trying to raise funds to help purchase this kit and to buy 6 months worth of sensor implants - she has already raised £65.
An event will soon be taking place to raise further funds by undertaking a raffle and a line dance.
I am reaching out to my friends and family to ask if you could donate something on this page - Thank you in advance - I'm sure you'll agree this is a worthy cause, I know I'm biased but I'm sure anyone would agree that 1 needle a month is so much better than 372!!
Nikki xx
