Story

A Call For Hope is a new social enterprise in the Wakefield area.

Our initial aim is to provide vital communication to those who need it most. In the future we want to help create living spaces to help people keep off the streets at night.

In the Wakefield area extreme poverty and cases of homelessness are on the rise. Local resources are available in the area and provide great support but only have limited means and one area that we have found that wasn't fulfilled was help with communication.

To help people make sure they can claim available benefits, receive communication from healthcare, and call emergency services they need a reliable mobile phone.

We are providing basic mobile phones, SIM card and top up credit for those who have no means of reliable communication.

These bundles, at the moment, are supplied to C.A.P Care in Wakefield to their clients who need them.

C.A.P Care offer vital support to their clients of the Wakefield area and understand their users needs, hence why we entrusting our donations to them. They will be far more effective at supplying those who need them most, then we could be working alone. They also would allow clients to charge the handset at their centre.

The phones we are supplying are 2G network phones, allowing a wide area coverage and long battery life.

We have chosen Asda mobile as the main network as they have low value topup options along with minimum topup and use periods of 180 days and the ability to stil receive calls up to 270 days from last topup. The credit is available for use for 30 days as most pay as you go systems work.

The initial bundle includes:-

Nokia 105 handset with charger.

SIM card, topup card and evoucher credit.

Further topup evouchers will be supplied to allow continued support.

The first 5 phone packs are being delivered Feb 2019. We have provided these ourselves and hope, with your support, we can supply more to those who need them.
