Story
My son (aged 9) is going to be swimming the distance of the English channel 22 miles ( he is hoping to complete this within 5 weeks) starting in September to try and raise as much money as possible for the children's cancer wards @ the RVI Newcastle.
He decided to do this as last November his much loved cousin Daisy (aged 3) was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma – a soft tissue sarcoma suffered by fewer than 60 UK children each year.
Daisy has been successfully treated at The RVI hospital and at the brand new proton beam Hospital in Manchester being the first child from the North East to be sent there for proton beam treatment. Daisy got the all clear 3 weeks ago and is now officially in remission. We have deceided to fund raise for the RVI childrend's oncology wards 4 and 14 where Daisy received her chemotherapy and was looked after so amazingly for 8 months. They are an amazing bunch of consultants, Drs and Nurses.
As Daisy's family we can't praise them enough or the wonderful NHS.
Just wants to do something good and give back to say thank you.
