Story

Hello, my name is Carla, I am 17 and am a student at The Perse School in Cambridge.

I’m on a mission to raise £1000 to support the Global Youth Council (GYC) in educating and empowering youth on sustainability.

I am heartbroken and frustrated, but I refuse to stand by while climate change fuels deadly floods, pollution poisons the air children breathe, and poverty strips millions of their basic rights. Our planet is in crisis - and children are suffering most; it’s time to fight for our future.

However, rather than staying heartbroken and frustrated, this summer I pledge to hike 50km in the Bolivian Andies, including summiting to a peak of 6088m and 5150m and cyle 100km around Cambridgeshire this September, to raise funds for local and global charities who are trying to promote education and protect nature and communities from the impacts of climate change, species extinction and pollution. I will be cycling alongside my incredible friend and teammate, Emma Yanakieva, who is equally passionate about this cause. Please sponsor me?

All funds raised will go directly to the Global Youth Council on Science, Law and Sustainability and the UNEP World Conservation Monitoring Centre , who are working to empower youth, promote education about sustainability solutions and mobilise science to protect nature

Due to the remoteness of the Andes, I will be posting about my hiking once I‘ve completed it. However, for our cycle, I will be documenting our journey and posting updates on my progress throughout, so please follow along! We’d be so grateful for your support - you can follow and support Emma’s journey here!

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my page and reading about my cause!
