Story

I will be running the New Forest half Marathon on the 10th September and then 6 days later I will be doing a 40km cycle event, and then in October I will be running The Great South Run. I want to raise as much as possible to help this family all live a better and easier life.

William is a very special 14 year old with a wicked sense of humour. He suffers from Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy and requires 24 hour care. William has severe problems with his hips, pelvis and back and has a constant battle with pain. He has had over fifteen major operations and will require regular surgery throughout his life. William's seizures can come at any time although the majority come during sleep, which means he needs constant supervision throughout the day and night.

William’s home needs substantial alterations to make it a safe and comfortable place for him to grow up and to enable his parents to continue his long term care. The Edkins need to raise funds to cover the cost of building a small extension to house proper bathroom/toilet facilities and a bedroom for him to grow in to. William does not have access to downstairs facilities and the bathroom is now not big enough for a wheelchair, a hoist and a care giver. His bedroom isn't big enough to accommodate his wheelchair and all the equipment he needs. This extension will also give the family extra space for live-in respite care as his care becomes more complex.

Please help make Williams life as comfortable as possible for now and his long term future.
