Hi,
My name is Mia and I am currently a Young Leader at 2nd Chineham Guides and also at Chineham Rainbows in Basingstoke, Hampshire. I have been fortunate enough to be selected, after various selection stages and weekends away, as part of an eighteen girl team to represent South West England Girl Guiding on a trip to Kenya in the summer of 2018.

This trip is a working one, which includes educational and construction themes. I will be expected to help teach English lessons, read stories, prepare meals, play games and sports. There will be building and renovation work to create more conducive learning spaces for the local children. Together with community visits to landfill sites, where the children have to earn money by sorting through the rubbish to collect plastic for recycling.
It’s not all work, there will be some pleasure time with a weekend stay at a Maasai Mara village, a visit to a giraffe sanctuary and elephant orphanage in Nairobi, plus a tour of a local craft market.

I will be the only person from Hampshire North attending this amazing and exciting trip. 

The reason for this is to ask for your support in the travel portion of this trip, in the form of a small donation. In order to participate on the trip, I need to raise £2,200 to cover my flight, expenses and a small portion is donated towards the development of projects in Kenya. This small donation aids over 21 community educational projects in developing areas of Ghana, Kenya and Zanzibar.

Any contribution that you feel you are able to provide is much appreciated and will go towards my goal of raising £2,200 to cover the trip.
