    Story

On the 16th July I am taking on the challenge of the Yorkshire Three Peaks to raise awareness and support for the wonderful members of Autism Hope Sheffield. We are a parent / carer support group and our members have children of all ages with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Having a child with additional needs can feel very isolating and lonely and I started the group as a way to connect with other parents when my son was diagnosed with autism 5 years ago.I am doing this challenge alone to represent how alone you can feel at the start of the journey and through support and connection of others who truly understand things do get easier and less daunting. Some of our parents have had to fight to get diagnosis for their children and stop the labelling of their child as ā€œ just being naughty ā€œ They may have to fight for the right education setting, for therapy to make their childs life as easy as possible and numerous other things. We do not want any parent to feel isolated and alone and through our weekly meetings in person and online we strive to always be a safe space to inform and support. By donating to the challenge you will be helping to continue the funding to keep our group running and facilitate counselling sessions and workshops for our members. Thankyou so much, Carlie xxx

Thankyou so much to everyone that has donated! I have managed two training walks this week, one five mile and one seven mile. As the challenge is 24 miles I need a lot more training sessions but I will do it and honestly your support means the world to me so thankyou ā¤ā¤ā¤
