I've raised £10000 to help save Carl and his home this Christmas

PLEASE HELP TO POSSIBLY SAVE AN ELDERLY LOCAL MANS LIFE AND HOME THIS CHRISTMAS
Good evening Glossop. We’ve reached out a few times since taking over the pub and had a great response to our requests for help. This one however is the most important of them all. Please take the time to read, share and help or give if you’re in a position to do so.
Some of you may know Mr Carl Marshall, he moved into Glossop in 1941, he’s a regular in The Oakwood, enjoying his daily glass of red and reading the paper. Unfortunately at the ripe old age of 89, Carl recently fell sick due to his living conditions and was moved into a local care home, mainly due to the fact his current “house” (a previous workshop) has been deemed unsuitable to live in.
Carl throughout his life has worked in solitary careers consequently has not married or had children, he is however a lovable character with many fantastic stories from his years of keeping light houses, being a guard and also spending 32 years as Country Park Ranger around Derbyshire and further. This unfortunately means his support network is quite low. The government is unable to continue to support the care he has been receiving in the lovely care home he has enjoyed staying in over the past few weeks.
Carl needs to go back to his home, however If he does go back in its present state (damp, no proper central heating, mice and in a general state of disrepair) then we are very concerned that he will not make it through the winter months.
We are therefore reaching out to Glossop and beyond to see if we can get an army of helpers together to help make his small home at the very least warm, secure and with some working basic amenities, at present he has no central heating, no tiles in the bathroom, nor windows to look out of, this is a house that has been botched together from an old workshop.
Please see below some pictures of Carls home which explain all!
If you are able to offer any:
- Time
- Skills
- Knowledge
- Materials
We would be very interested to hear from you, please send us a private message and let us know how you can help.
We also are hoping to get some cash together to help make this happen, we have therefore set up a just giving page. We would urge all those who come to our pub….please have 1 or 2 drinks less this week and instead put it towards helping make Carl’s home habitable this winter.
We took Carl out for his 89th birthday last week and promised him we would do all we could to help, we’ve seen nothing but support from Glossop since moving here in April and really hope you can help us make this happen for Carl.
Our current estimation is £7000 however we are getting some quotes over the next few days which will enable us to give a more accurate estimate on funding required.
Update: we now know the costs for the project will be in the region of 10k
Thank you for taking the time to read. Please share and help us reach out to as many people as possible.
