Carmunnock Youth Theatre was founded in September 2015 by Brendon McIlroy, a Carmunnock local who had worked as a professional theatre practitioner and director for 13 years and felt there was a need for some kind of drama group for young people in the village.

The youth theatre was a success from the outset but due to us not receiving any funding or sponsorship initially- the sessions were chargeable which we felt created an obstacle which prevented some young people from participating.

Fortunately the grouop received some grant support this year from Awards for All and Heritage Lottery fund to work on two innovative and imaginative performance projects.

Unfortunately that funding will have been exhausted by the end of December which means that the group will either have to become chargeable again or in the worst case scenario- close its doors at the end of 2016.

We are looking for some support from people and businesses in the community to help us continue with this fantastic group which has been highly successful in engaging young people aged 6-14 to develop their performance skills, imagination and confidence.

The money will be spent on tutors, hall hire and public liability insurance which are all essential components to ensure the sustainability of our youth theatre.
