Story
We are building a Miniature Shakespearian Globe Theatre in the grounds of our school and the layout will exactly emulate the original theatre in London! This innovative and exciting project will mean that the outside space at SMMJ will truly be transformed by this build and it will provide an opportunity for outdoor learning development so that our children can access the very best resources.
It is extremely important to provide opportunities which raise self esteem, promote individual confidence as well as shape positive attitudes and we would expect these improvements to impact positively on our children.
SMMJ has tried to look at the tangible and intangible impact of progressing this development and clearly the tangible include a hugely improved learning area and the opportunities for developing new core skills. Whilst we would expect the intangible to impact on health and well being, confidence, self belief and ambition.
At SMMJ we are passionate about inclusion and diversity and we feel that by offering the children the opportunity to perform in the theatre this will enable the children work together which will break down barriers and allow them to grow together.
We are working in collaboration with our local community and partner schools to ensure that the build is utilised to maximum effect so that the best possible outcomes are achieved for as many children and adults in the Borough and beyond.
We would expect independent theatre groups, businesses, individuals and many more groups in the wider community to utilise the facilities and support has already been gleaned from the London Globe Theatre, all of our local schools in the Borough, Liverpool John Moore's University, the local Prescot Shakespeare Group and the Reader Organisation and we expect that once the build is complete there will be further local and national interest.
Any money raised would allow SMMJ to take forward this ambitious and innovative project - thank you!
