Story
Situated on the Stonehouse estate in South West Birmingham we see over 200 young people a week, a lot are from underprivileged, deprived backgrounds. We use our minibuses a lot. We have a cottage in Wales which we take young people to and we take them swimming every week and to football as well. We also use them to pick up old and vulnerable people every week for a regular over 50's club, this is a vital service as some are housebound and can only move with the help of a wheelchair. We make them available to groups that we feel need them also.
Our minibuses are a vital tool to us and the community around us. One of them is getting old now and we are spending heaps of money which we haven't got to keep it on the road. We need to renew it, not necessarily with new one but with a bus that will last a few years with an underfloor chairlift so we can take more senior citizens and wheelchair users. We receive no council funding, this was stopped 5 years ago, this means we are totally reliant on donations from outside, having to find another £25,000 to fill the gap left by the council before anything else. This does not leave a lot of money for other projects
Can you people help? We as a charity are 80 years old next year and it would be brilliant if we could renew our bus in time for our birthday!
