Story
Our story and who/want we are raising money for....
On the 19th March 2017 our world was smashed to pieces when Paul was diagosed with Secondary cancer to the liver, unknown primary, terminal!!!! That is a horrid word and I chose to ignore it and just thought "we are going to bloody beat this"". That is what I told him and myself all the time. John said I had to be positive. Paul was a quiet man, and those who knew him, he was a gentleman and a kind loving person who would not have hurt a fly. Why why why??? I ask myself that every day but there are no answers so instead we are channelling everything we have to trying to raise funds for the Paul Brame Foundation to help small charities who don't get a lot of help and raising awareness for young adults who, like Paul, felt alone with not much understanding of this terrible disease!
This has been and will be the hardest part of our lives, ever, and cannot see an end to the sadness and grief that we are all experiencing. He married the love of his life on the 10th September 2017- now Niah Phillips-Brame - and then lost him 4 weeks later. Life is so hard....... and for them their journey was just beginning....... to be cut short so quickly. We all support each other and we know that he is looking down on us. He would tell us "don't cry" but that is something that happens every day. So sorry Paul!!
Carole: Me doing a marathon??
When John said he wanted to do some challenges for the Paul Brame Foundation and a Marathon was on the list he suggested it as a goal and I said 'YES'. I was supposed to do Paris but unfortunately I was unwell for that weekend so my entry went to waste, but we are looking at other marathons later in the year and I am determined to get to the finish line, especially after everyone has been so generous and supportive already! I will announce which one very soon.
I am so proud to have so many wonderful family and friends who have so far donated to Paul Brame's Foundation. Cannot believe that together with everyone's heIp the target has been reached and there are still some of my friends who said they would sponsor me and haven't done yet so I have increased it and see where I can go from here. Some donations are anonymous and thank you to them too. Others who I may not know but they have felt it in their hearts to donate. Thank you from the bottom of mine..................................
John: A crazy April in memory of the my brother!
In memory of my brother I am doing a selection of events and challenges and I am doing them to raise money for the 'Paul Brame Foundation '. The first of my challenges in 2018 include:
07/04 - 180km Paris-Roubaix Sportif - DONE (Super hard!)
08/04 - Paris Marathon (my first ever Marathon) - DONE (4hrs 21mins)
15/04 - 250km Amstel Gold Sportive - DONE (9hrs)
22/04 - London Marathon
If you are unsure about what these events are please visit my Facebook page, but please believe me when I say this coming April will test me mentally and physically!
We set up the Paul Brame foundation to raise money for smaller charities and to help other people in memory of Paul and to help with the following two things:
1) To raise awareness of cancer in young adults under 40 years of age. It is becoming more and more common, but there is still very little available for people effected by this horrible disease within this age bracket.
2) To be a fundraising community where any money raised/donated can be collected and distributed to help some of the smaller charities within the charity sector that help so many people but don’t always get the recognition they deserve.
Please donate generously and helps others, and keep my baby brother's memory alive!
