Story
In the early hours of Saturday 13th January 2020, Carole died suddenly following a massive stroke. She had been fit and healthy and this came as a huge shock to us all.
Carole devoted her life to teaching children with special needs, in particular those who were hearing impaired. Her passion for children continued after she retired in 2016. Carole, along with her husband Richard decided to dedicate their time, skills and love to the children of Gulu, Uganda. Over three years they visited many times. Carole was involved in teaching children with special needs and also implementing child protection policies with the teachers. She led by example and taught with compassion. She gained respect through her integrity. She loved and was loved by staff and children alike.
Carole had many plans for her time in Gulu and her work there is not yet finished.
Carole attended University Community Church in Gulu along with several of her fellow colleagues and volunteers. The church has been renting premises and are currently fundraising in order to build their own building which can then be used for their work amongst children and students.
As a lasting tribute to the unfinished work Carole was doing in Gulu, we would love to be able to contribute towards the money required for their building.
Over the past few days we have been overwhelmed with the stories shared with us of the impact that Carole had on people's lives. Carole loved deeply and loved many. As a family we would love to be able to honour and continue the work she was involved with in Gulu. A place and people who were her passion.
Thankyou for your donation to this cause, in honour of a very special lady who will be greatly missed.
