Story

Hi - I'm Sofia and as long as I can remember my dream has been to become a Marine Biologist. At my year six leavers assembly I was remembered as "most likely to swim with sharks"

I really want to make a difference in conservation and particularly in helping to preserve our coral reefs.

I have the once in a lifetime opportunity through camp international to spend 4 weeks in Borneo where I will be working in Bornean communities on projects that help improve lives - anything from helping building in local communities to spending time in local schools - whatever is needed.

I will also be able to get up close to colourful marine life and incredible orangutans, (my dream) and enjoy the abundance of biodiversity whilst learning about sustainable conservation.

My final challenge will be learning to scuba dive on a PADI Open Water Scuba Diving Course something I have always wanted to do.

I think this will be a life changing experience for me - getting to experience a culture that is so different from what I know, getting to make a difference to peoples lives and getting real valuable life experience in the area that I want to work in.

The trip is very expensive - so I am going to need as much help as I can to get me there, I am going to be doing a fundraising event as well as a raffle and offering my services locally for babysitting, dog walking and car washing to raise as much as I can.

Thank you for reading my story.. any donation you can make is so appreciated
