I've raised £2000 to Nathan’s fundraising for World Scout Jamboree, North America 2019

Nathan has been fortunate to have been selected to represent Burton, Staffordshire and UK scouts at the World Scout Jamboree in North America 2019. There are 12 young people going from Burton and only 5000 from the UK. He is fundraising to not only pay for his own journey but also for those less fortunate in other countries around the world to enable others to have be able to take part in this experience. Nathan is taking part in lots of fundraising activities such as bag packing, running stalls on Tutbury Market, running quizzes and many other events including being a security guard!! We will be using this page to keep you up to date with what he is doing.
Nathan started scouting in Tutbury at six years old, he has progressed through to cubs and scouts earning chief scout awards along the way. He is currently a member of Burton explorers and is also a young leader giving back his time to help others enjoy scouting. He is working towards gaining his diamond and Queens Scout award.
Nathan has also completed his bronze and silver Duke of Edinburgh Award and will start working towards his Gold in May. He is also signed up to NCS National Citizen Service 2018.
As a young carer Nathan has never had the opportunity to be able to visit another country so this is especially important to him. He is already fundraising and hopes to complete the Three Peaks challenge as part of this along with bag packing, quizzes and other events. The overall cost of the trip is £3,700 ironically it is 3,700 miles to West Virginia so that's £1 per mile!!
Together, we will be taking part in an exciting programme of events and activities which will help us to develop our understanding of global development and gain a deeper understanding of other countries and cultural diversity, at the same time as enabling us to develop international friendships. The purpose of this Jamboree is to enable us to leave with wider view of the world, and a renewed commitment (as young people in a global community) to work together with others to find solutions to both local and international situations.
Nathan is dedicated to helping others through his service to scouting as a young leader and is really looking forward to meeting people from other countries and forging new friendships. He is looking forward to sharing his experiences with others in the hope that they will be inspired to take up the same opportunities.
