Story

I am Caroline Taylor auntie of one of Pips best friends Grace Guthrie.

I am running the British 10K in London on July 15th. I would like to use this event to help raise funds for a memorial bench in honour of Pippa (Pip) McManus.

Grace met Pip when she was admitted as an inpatient at an eating disorders hospital. Pip was struggling herself with anorexia ,malnutrition, and depression but she took the time to befriend Grace and help her come to terms with life in the hospital guiding and inspiring her in her own recovery and making her life there a lot brighter. They became very close almost like sisters.

Grace left the hospital and kept in touch with Pip whilst they both continued their struggle against this terrible condition. Unfortunately after 3 years of fighting Pip could no longer continue and took her own life in December 2015, she was just 15 years old. Despite her own suffering she always looked to help others overcome theirs. She has had a profound effect on Grace and she has used Pips inner strength to inspire her when she most needed it. Grace has just been able to complete her A levels and is looking forward to a future in which she can help others.

It seemed like a good time to try to give something back to Pip's family.

Pip was a beautiful, artistic caring girl and she would have loved a creative piece of art in the form of a bench, so that all her friends can visit and think of the happy times they spent together.

With your kindness and support this piece of art will be of great healing and comfort to the family and all of Pip's beautiful friends.
