Disability support

Story

My friend who works in the NHS as a Macmillan nurse was Diagnosed with EDS and learning disabilities in 2010. Since then she was badly treated due to her disability despite her brilliant academic and professional achievements. Her employer, NHS, instead of helping her to continue working with her disability tried over and over to prove that she is not capable of doing her job. Regrettably this badly affected her mental health. My friend is a very dedicated, empathetic, professional, knowledgeably and experienced nurse. She loves her job and working with cancer patients was never just a job for her it was always a vocation.

My friend decided that after years of struggle she had no option but to take her employer to an Employment Tribunal. Due to changes to the legal system in the last seven years it is very challenging for a disabled employee to do so. The challenge is not only to prepare all evidence but also to deal with an enormous financial burdens and health issues.

I would greatly appreciate financial support for my friend as I strongly believe that she is not the first to struggle to get help and support in the NHS. I also believe that her case can set a precedent which would help others in similar circumstances in the future but also it would stop a cavalier attitude from some NHS Trust management.

Thank you.
