I've raised £8000 to Help fostering families in Devon meet up and have challenges at an Outdoor Activity Centre.

All of Devon's children that are looked after have suffered the trauma of being taken away from their homes, schools, families and loved ones. This trauma is now recognised as causing long term mental health issues affecting the child's sense of worth and potentially causing severe behavioural issues which impact at home and at school and restrict the child's abilities to integrate with others. The grant will be used to arrange a visit to an outdoor activity centre to help build the children's self-esteem, allowing the children to meet up with other children that understand their situation, and to allow foster carers to socialise with other like minded individuals to discuss and learn therapeutic parenting issues without any fears of being udged or misunderstood.
