Story
After losing my best friend Finn Abberton and my lovely godmother Ann Osborne in the last year, I have decided to run a half marathon with my big sister Kate to raise money for two charities in their name. As Just Giving are unable to allow me to set up a fundraising page for two charities, I will be splitting the money raised here between two charities - FAIR (Funding Auto Immune Research) and Water Aid that I will donate at the end of August.
Finn's amazing mum Alex is involved in a newly set up charity named FAIR that is determined to fund much needed research to enable better treatments for people suffering from auto immune diseases, such as Chronic Fatigue to thereby reduce the extreme suffering that many experience, both mentally and physically, and improve their quality of life.
My godmother Ann was born in Uganda and Water Aid is a very important charity to her. The heart of the strategy at Water Aid is to make clean water, clean toilets and good hygiene accessible to everyone. 1 in 3 people on the planet don't have a decent toilet of their own and 1 in 9 don't have clean water close to home. However, with the help of charitable donations, Water Aid is able to provide millions of people in the most remote of places with these basic necessities.
Both Finn and Ann were effortlessly kind and held incredibly important places in my life. I know they will be willing me on as I run and any donations towards these very worthwhile charities would be incredibly appreciated. Thank you.
