I've raised £500 to help fund Bedford Hospital Research and Education Fund and St John's Hospice, Moggerhanger, both of which supported our friend Rich Garrett.

Story

Jamie, Rosanna and I are taking part in the 10k Run Bedford race on Sunday 2nd June in memory of our great friend, Richard Garrett, who died, after 9 years of living with cancer, just before Christmas last year, aged 51.

Rich was a great big bear of a man: kind, brave, and above all very, very funny - who lived life to the absolute max. He had more friends than one can possibly imagine, all of whom were drawn to his infectious sense of fun and couldn't fail to be inspired by the way he dealt with his cancer and all that came with it. (It's no surprise that there are now over 90 of us running on Sunday as part of #Team Garrett!)

Throughout his life, Rich raised thousands of pounds for causes he believed in and, before he died, asked that any money raised in his name be given to St John's Hospice, Moggerhanger (Charity No. 1052076 Ref. No.05494), where he was brilliantly looked after in his final weeks, and The Bedford Hospital Primrose Unit (Primrose Unit Fund 013096, Charity Number 1061003), where he had been cared for as a patient throughout his illness.

We want to try to help Rich's wonderful wife, Emma, and their five children, India, Josh, Toby, Sam and Tess, raise as much as we possibly can!
