I’m Carrie – I study a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport and Exercise Sciences. I love sport, and aim to go into a career in that area. Alongside my study I pursue a job as a primary school sports coach. I am about to undergo training to become a gym instructor, lifeguard and swimming teacher, with the plan to move abroad soon to teach swimming.

I am challenging myself to run a marathon to raise money for two charities. I have arranged my own marathon for July, involving the community. I'll embark on an accurately measured route with volunteers running/cycling by my side.

80% of money raised will go to the Matthew Nicholls Foundation. Matt, our much loved relative, unexpectedly took his own life in July 2017, aged 24. Auntie Rachel & Uncle Rob, Matt’s parents, have set up this charity to give young people from less fortunate backgrounds the opportunity to develop their natural talents in the music world, as Matt did. Matt had incredible natural music and song-writing skills. He was living and working in London and sharing his talent and love of music through musical performance in his band. We want to enable Matt to live on through helping others.

The other 20% will go to the Alder Hey Children’s Charity, in memory of Patric Wilson, a student at Culcheth High School, who died of cancer in February 2016, aged 16. This is also in honour of my brother, Patrick Divers, aged 22, who received ongoing treatment from Alder Hey throughout his childhood, including multiple life-saving surgeries. It is the work of Alder Hey which means my big brother is with us today, and who made Patric Wilson's journey that little bit easier.
