I've raised £500 to help fund vital treatment for Charlotte diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour

Go the distance for Charlotte in September! Do you walk/run/swim/cycle? No matter how you move please sign up to ‘Go the distance for Charlotte’ this September.
In February this year Charlotte, a 19 year old first year Birmingham University nursing student, was given the devastating news that she has an inoperable grade four glioblastoma brain tumour. It was discovered after she started to struggle to read her text messages. Her doctor couldn't find a problem but when she went to see an optician they discovered her optic nerves were swollen causing suspicion that there was some pressure behind her eyes. The optician recommended she go straight to the eye hospital and from there she was sent to A & E where she had CT scans. The following day, on the 7th February, it was confirmed she had a tumour.
Charlotte is currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy, however the family have been told that this treatment is to prolong her life as the tumour is inoperable . The family are exploring alternative treatments both in the UK and abroad as they understandably want to consider every possible option available to them. Charlotte's cancer is so rare that there aren't that many clinical trials therefore treatment options are very limited. The family are currently looking into the possibility of tumour treating fields the same treatment that the late MP Tessa Jowell received but the costs for this is almost £20k per month. Her family are also exploring a personalised vaccine treatment where costs are in excess of £150k .
Previous fundraising with Just Giving, Co-op collection, music concert, afternoon tea, black tie ball, golf day, head shaves, Worcester Races and other events have been very successful but the concern is even with the generosity of everyone involved with these events, we're just not going to be able to raise the sum required to cover the very expensive treatment .
We want to do anything we can to make it possible for Charlotte to get the right treatment and so we are asking you to get involved and start moving this September.
Throughout the month we are asking YOU to sign up and donate £10 then see how many miles you can move over the whole month. Let’s see if between us we can move the 3,355 miles that covers Bromsgrove to New York where the foundation is.
Have a fitness device? Then count your miles. Swim, cycle, walk, run, crawl - we really don’t care! Get the family involved and sign up to make a healthy change to your life style and potentially, a life changing opportunity for Charlotte.
