    Story

Talbot Specialist School is based in Sheffield and caters for students with special educational needs from Year 7 through to Year 14. As an inclusive school we offer our students as many opportunities as possible to be off site participating in a wide range of activities. We feel that students learn best when they have access to different environments, enriching their everyday lives.

We currently have a school minibus that is used every day of the week, unfortunately like anything, the minibus is old and starting to deteriorate. To maintain the bus in its current state isn’t financially viable for the school and at some point in the very near future it could be declared off the road. If the bus is declared off the road this will mean that the students will miss out on a number of opportunities they might previously have had access to.

We are looking to raise £16,000 towards the cost of our new minibus that will allow external visits to continue supporting our students. This will enable the school to buy a larger bus to carry a full class to travel together on various outings. The minibus will come with a full tail lift allowing any wheelchair users to access the visits with their friends. This will mean that all students can travel with their friends allowing for a fully inclusive educational visit, promoting social skills and communication across the school.

At present we have a huge number of visits going out of school, some of these include weekly shopping trips to local supermarkets, Duke of Edinburgh camping trips in Derbyshire, walking groups in the Peak District, volunteering at local charity shops and more.

The benefits of having our own minibus are huge and help us provide the highest standard of provision for our students.

We would be very grateful if you can help and support us with any donations, of any size, to support the students at Talbot Specialist School for many years to come.
