Story

My name is Carolyne, I am a 41 year old mature student nurse in Shropshire UK. I am currently in my second year as a student nurse and doing well, in the third year we have an elective placement where we choose where to go and what to do including organising and paying for any cost incurred. As you know the student bursery is no longer around but I was lucky to get one of the last ones, sadly this only covers my bills and I would like to go to Tanzania. I have worked within the NHS for near 10 years and have seen how amazing they are with everything we have to hand but never have I seen how others work with very little. We also have the society who present to the hospital early in illness or disease where as in Tanzania people present late in the stages of illness, diesease and it is this (as sad as it is) that will help me understand other conditions and look deeper into conditions in the later stages only seen in text books.
Some people have said I should get a placement within the UK but I feel I need to see the other side of nursing to have a deeper respect for those who don't have the luxury of the NHS, or access to good medical care or have the money to spare to be able to pay for it.
I also want to be able to take donations of medical supplies if possible, it all helps them help others. I know £3000 is a lot but that is just to pay for the time I am in Tanzania not the flights or for transport, insurance, injections for me and other things. Please help me to be there, to learn and try to give something to those who have little but are willing to help me learn.
Since I was at junior school I raised money for hundreds of causes and never one for me to be able to help hands on, it's easy to hand the money over but I would like that experience of doing, seeing, living and learning. Thank you for your time and hopefully A donation. 😉😉😉
