Red River Explorers are a recently formed Explorer group set within our long standing 1st Loscoe Scout Group, based in Derbyshire.

Our explorers are all former Beavers, Cubs and Scouts whom have come up the ranks and have lots of Scouting experience, a mixed sex group aged 14-18 years of age who all get along fantistically. Whilst fiercely competitive between themselves, they are the most supportive of each other at all times. Some life long friends are certainly being made along the way!

Our explorers have decided they would really like to try to achieve the Silver, Bronze and Gold Dragon Badges, set over a three year period.

The Dragon Award consists of 36 camps over 3 years in order to achieve their Gold badges, with many of these camps requiring to be taken in Europe and all corners of the UK. Some are challenges in themselves, camping at height, near to sea and other difficult places. Achieving these badges is not to be sniffed at, and certainly something for the children to proudly write on their CVs!

These camps are costly, and whilst we own our own minibus (she has travelled many, many joyous miles!), Red River Explorers are raising money for help with camp fees, food and equipment in order to help achieve our Dragon Awards, one of the most prestigious awards available to Explorers!

An Explorer has to attend ALL 36 camps in order to acheive Gold, so none can be missed, a commitment in itself!

These awards are hard to come by, and would be the first time 1st Loscoe Scout Group have achieved them, as such we are so proud of the commitment the children and parents are putting into these camps.

We would really appreciate any help with supporting our Explorers to achieve this goal of £5,000 to support the children over the 3 years, and we must stress that absolutely any amount of support is very much appreciated!
