I've raised £1000 to help give Willie and his family a break from Cancer.

The statistics say that 1 in 2 people in the UK born after 1960 will be diagnosed with some form of cancer during their lifetime. So you would think that it wouldn't come as such a shock when your close friend tells you her husband has cancer. But that's what is was, a massive shock to all who know Willie, but especially to his wife and children.
Willie and Nichola are hard working, salt of the earth people, who despite working full time jobs, have given up their evenings and weekends for the last 10 years to run the local football club, and more recently the Charles Rice Junior Football League. Selflessly ensuring thousands of kids get to play the game they love.
Even during the diagnosis and treatment they have tried to make sure everything carries on 'as normal' for their own kids but also their football family, always giving and never asking for anything in return.
The road ahead for Willie and his family will certainly not be an easy one, with the initial course of treatment requiring weekly trips to the hospital for medication to be placed directly into the bladder. This is ongoing for at least 15 months, with intermittent breaks approximately every 6 weeks.
I can only imagine how hard it must be living with cancer, but having to continue to work full time to provide for your family as well must be exhausting at times. And it is because of that I wanted to try and help, to raise as much money as I can to give Willie and his family a break from cancer.
It might only be a weekend away, but it is nothing more than what they need and deserve as a family, I would therefore like to ask you to dig deep and give as much or as little as you can, to help Willie and his family get a little break from Cancer.
Thank you xx
