Story

CASPAR'S PPL

Having turned 13 in 2016, Caspar joined the Air Cadets and immersed himself in his love of aviation, nurtured over many earlier years with aircraft taking off on 26 or landing on 08 at Redhill as they flew near his house.

Back in 2016, at a fly-in event at Hangar 9, Caspar presented himself accompanied by his father, Clive, who is incredibly supportive of Caspar's ambitions.

Hangar 9 were delighted to take on Caspar and feed his enthusiasm by giving him the time-honoured position of "Hangar Rat'" ! He spent many a weekend at the hangar, always accompanied by Clive, helping to keep the place tidy, cleaning aircraft, learning lots and generally being a great help in whatever needs doing.

Recently Caspar has been working towards his GCSEs and with his exams complete in June we hope to see much more of him this Summer.

Many of you have generously taken Caspar flying when you've had a spare seat and this has helped to foster even more enthusiasm in an already hugely dedicated, polite and humble young man whose confidence is growing as he achieves more in aviation, amateur radio and in his GCSEs by sheer, good ol' fashioned hard work.

Now that Caspar is approaching his 17th birthday, and having become such an inspirational part of the community at Hangar 9, we would really like to raise funds and sponsor Caspar through his flying training.

Therefore in the spirit of fostering his interests and helping him to achieve his ambitions, do please give generously to this deserving young man and let's leave a Hangar 9 legacy through Caspar, helping him to kick start a possible career in aviation as well as a life long love of the joy of flying.

To help with this, Laurance Hay has kindly offered to teach Caspar his PPL through Redhill Aviation and waive all instructor fees. This is an incredibly generous and selfless offer - thank you Laurance. It helps reduce the cost of the PPL by over £1000 and we will see what else we can do with the airfield and the flying school in case there's some more wiggle room. With this in mind we have a net target of £6,500 to achieve so do please donate if possible, no matter how large or small.

Many thanks

Richard
