I've raised £3500 to START THE CASTLE DOUGLAS SOAP BOX DERBY

Castle Douglas Soap Box Derby
We are looking at setting up a yearly event for the community , run by the community.
The initial outlay is high just for the minimum requirements , to get the event off the ground we reakon it will cost at least £5000 to start with.
We where quoted £25 000 for custom made inflatable safety barriers.
They are the ideal choice but something we could never expect to raise in a short space of time.
( Maybe if we build up the event over a few years like we hope too )
Tho Custom made barriers could be used for other events etc and rented out , bringing money in to the town for the town.

We are currently looking at other options , none so far are without logistical issues or high purchase costs.
We have been looking at the option of using tyres or Hay bales , bales would be the first choice to then sell after the event to coversome costs , secondary barriers are vital as would protect the racers and spectators , also there are other costs for the event as a whole.
Any and all monies raised would go back into Castle Douglas for events and functions in the future once we get ours started.
We hope this will be an annual event , if any barriers are purchased they would be available for the community to use for other events subject to agreements.

Without the communitys help this might not happen which would be a real shame with amount of interest there has been
Our costs are not ar approx £7500 but have been doing fundraising out side this page
