I've raised £898 to help Caterina volunteer in Peru where she'll be working with endangered, native animals in order to stop the illegal exotic pet trade.

On 3rd March 2018 I will be off to Peru, Madre de Dios, volunteering with NGO Taxi for 4 weeks with the aim to help stop the illegal exotic pet trade. All over the world, animals are being removed from their natural habitats, sailed across the globe and forced into homes where they are wanted as pets. Not only does this have catastrophic effects in the environment from which they were taken-harming the balance of the ecosystem- additionally, it causes harm to the 'pet' itself where its new surroundings are nothing like they should be, often resulting in their depression and ill health. On top of this, as they have not been domesticated, unlike cats and dogs, they can be dangerous to humans too... causing once again more HARM.
My role in Peru will be to look after the animals already in the sanctuary. Feeding and caring for them, as well as monitoring their general welfare and health. Also I will be working to prepare natural habitats for the animals- restoring the Amazon rain forest with its tropical plants and through construction work in order to create natural paths for visitors. On top of all of this I will also be guiding visitors through the sanctuary in order to educate the public on animal welfare. More information on the project can be found here: NGO Taxi Peru animal rescue shelter.
Your money will go towards NGO Taxi help run the project by building things such as the animals sanctuary and helping the local people to join in on the project too. It will also fund the ability for me to actually get all the way to Peru, funding flights and required vaccinations.
All donations are welcome! If I exceed the target, all that money shall go to NGO Taxi, helping run projects just like this.
