Story

Dear friends,

My hometown Athens and my fellow citizens have been affected dramatically by the devastating fires of the 23rd July.
Only if you were on the scene you would understood the damage that this tragic event caused as it burnt a vast area in few hours, killed and injured people and animals and destroyed a source of oxygen for Athens.
People lost loved ones, their houses, everything in the blink of an eye and left with nothing.

It was a tragedy, one of the biggest fires in Europe.
People and animals got entrapped in the flames, the ones that went towards the shore and managed to go into the sea faced rough and dangerous waves as the strong winds on that day made the situation worse.
Some of the injured are saying that the sea was burning and despite their effort to swim away from the flames they were feeling the heat in the water.
Animals and other creatures of wildlife were among those affected and if they did not lose their lives they left injured and lost.

Citizens from areas close by went out to help and volunteers to support the firefighters that were giving an uneven fight with the fire.

Unfortunately a vast area of oxygen, beauty and life is completely destroyed.

I look forward to your help please and to giving hope to those affected. Any donation no matter how small it is, it will make a big difference in many lives!

Thank you!
Caterina xx
