Having worked with those living with Dementia and Alzheimer's for a number of years i see the struggle and heart ache it can cause not only to the individual but also to those around them .

Sadly there is currently no cure for dementia but the Alzheimer's Society is committed to funding research into cause, cure, care and prevention. So far Alzheimer's Society has funded over 100 research projects in leading scientific institutions across the UK.

At the Ashton we have a specialist Dementia suite called Bennetts , it has been decorated with Dementia friendly themes and reminiscence objects, our aim is to provide an holistic person centered approach to care, this includes the activities , one to one time , reminiscence talk and sensory objects. As well as offering long stay residential and respite placements we also offer day care service so that those living in the local community can come and spend some time with us in a safe environment , giving their loved ones a much needed break.

All money raised will be split between the Alzheimer's Society and the Ashton's Bennett suite. Nationally this will help towards research so that the Alzheimer's Society can continue to develop new therapies, tools for treatment and hopefully a cure for the future. Locally it will go towards equipment , activities , sensory aids , reminiscence items to help enrich the lives of those staying and visiting the Bennett Suite
