Story
We are six first year uni students from Magee College that are carrying out a fundraising project as a part of our business course to raise as many donations as we can for Foyle Search and Rescue.
Foyle Search and Rescue is a voluntary charity set up over 20 years ago. It currently has 70 members which consists of 35 active members. Foyle Search and Rescue covers the length of the Foyle river in range from Craigavon Bridge to the Peace Bridge which is a length of 9 and a Half Miles.
As Foyle Search and Rescue is a non- profit organisation, it therefore solely depends on community donations. The donations are invested straight into the resources used for enabling the emergency response team to carry out their duties to take action when required if an incident arises on the Foyle River. These resources include, the boats, training (first aid and technical), insurance and other members including the health board and 1 staff member which is a caretaker.
Foyle Search and Rescue helped rescue 329 lives between 2014-15 ,this showcases their continuous effort in the work they do and their emphasis on individuals health and safety. With increased donations this can allow resources to be managed much more conveniently.
If you would like to donate to our fundraising project, we would greatly appreciate it as every penny counts and can enhance resources which can save lives.
Thank You.
