Story
Dear All,
I have been asked to join a team who are competing in a Modern Pentathlon in mid October to raise money on behalf of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) charities, for the therapy and treatment of serving and retired British Military personnel.
The Pentathlon will include swimming, fencing, showjumping, and a run shoot exercise for which I have two months to train against other people who will have been training since Feb .... !!
The event is to be held at Sandhurst on the 14th of October and will be supporting charities such as Combat Stress which is the UK's leading veterans' mental health charity and they have over 6,000 veterans registered for support. Combat Stress treat a range of mental health conditions to enable the veterans they treat to seek freedom from the harmful effects of psychological injuries gained whilst serving for their country.
PentUp's mission is simple: aid recovery of veterans through sport and challenge head on the stigma of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). To compete all participants will be split into teams which will consist of Combat Stress veterans and medical staff, as well as supporters from all walks of life, (me) and Olympic Pentathletes, allowing veterans to share their journey and unique skills honed in adversity, while challenging attitude and perceived understanding towards mental health.
I am trying to raise £1,200 which is the target for those who joined in February - if you are at all able and willing to support me in this I would be most grateful!!!
Catherine xx
