Story

For one week in December 2017, I along with a number of my colleagues will be heading to west Nepal to take part in a buildOn organised trek to build a school in the Dhanghadi region of Nepal.

Any donations, however big or small, would be most appreciated to to help me to pay all the costs associated with this trek.

Despite Nepal's ranking on the UN's Human Development Index having steadily increased over the last ten years, nearly half of Nepal's populations remains below the poverty line of USD $1.25 per day. Ethnic conflicts and the lack of a skilled work force have posed obstacles to developmental attempts. buildOn's schools are transforming both children and adults in Nepal with gender-equal primary classrooms and Adult Literacy Programmes that offer health, literacy and community development instruction to parents.

Some information about the Trek below;

buildOn’s Trek program is a unique opportunity for groups to travel to a buildOn partner village and volunteer to help with the construction of a
school. Trek volunteers commit to raising the money to build the school prior to their travel and then spend a week traveling, working on the
construction of the school, and see the impact of education. Far from a vacation, Trek can be as challenging as it is rewarding. Volunteers stay
with local host families and experience everyday village life. Volunteers have a direct and lasting impact on the education of the community and
come home with a positively, unforgettable experience.
