I'm raising £3,000 to support three wonderful local charities. As Mayor of Worthing for 2025-26, I am fortunate to be able to nominate three local charities to support during my term.

The first of these is Worthing Food Foundation and Worthing Vegan Foodbank, a volunteer-run community foodbank which supports thousands of local residents who are struggling to make ends meet by providing free, emergency food and other essential supplies to everyone who needs help. The Worthing Food Foundation also runs a Community Food Club which provides ongoing support to people who occasionally need additional help with food, baby, hygiene and household supplies. The organisation is part of the Les Alden Foundation, charity no.1190114.

Official figures show that more than 12,000 people in Worthing alone go hungry, skip meals or don't have access to enough healthy food - that's 10% of the population. Your support can help us reach more of these people and help them get back on their feet.

The second is Worthing 4 Refugees, which seeks to welcome refugees to Worthing and support them as they integrate into the local community. Set up by Worthing church leaders in 2015, its vision is for the Worthing area to be a place of welcome, safety, integration and justice for refugees, people seeking asylum and displaced people. Our work includes support with English learning, social activities for adults and children, help with translation and practical support such as help filling in forms and making appointments.

The third is the Worthing Community Chest, which supports projects and activities in Worthing that work to enrich our local community and residents. Since 2001, the Community Chest has helped more than 300 groups and awarded over £400,000 in grants to good causes around Worthing.

During my term as Mayor, I will be holding cream teas and pre-theatre drinks in the Mayoral Parlour, arranging various community events and selling my unique 'Madam Mayor' T-shirts to raise money for all three charities.
