I've raised £500 to help provide text books for Kanjoo Primary School in remote rural Kenya.

I am Felix and I am attempting a 1600 m Spartan Race where I have to run, climb walls, go through mud, across rivers and complete other challenging obstacles and activities.
When my Mum was in Kenya, she met the children in this photo. She met the community and she visited the school. There are, on average, 83 children in a class with ONE teacher. Teaching and learning takes place in a very challenging environment but this does not dampen enthusiasm. Children want to learn, teachers want to teach, they just need resources, buildings, water and access to education. I've chosen to help raise money for the text books that the school so desperately need.
As stated in the Global Education Monitoring Report from UNESDOC, "Textbooks are especially relevant to improving learning outcomes in low income countries with large class sizes, a high proportion of unqualified teachers and a shortage of instructional time. Next to an engaged and prepared teacher, well-designed textbooks in sufficient quantities are the most effective way to improve instruction and learning." (Policy Paper 23)
Thank you for sponsoring me and thank you Mum for helping me write this!
