The bells of Christ Church in Eastbourne have fallen into a serious state of disrepair. Concerns escalated dramatically when, at the end of 2025, the wheel on one of the bells failed as a result of over a century of age and wear. This immediately left us with only 7 bells to ring, many of which are rapidly nearing a similar state. As well as the physical wear on the bells and mechanisms, the bells are in need of retuning, and some renovation is also required on the tower building itself.

Although a privately funded repair has been made to the fully broken wheel, a restoration of all the bells and fittings is urgently needed to ensure that the bells can continue to ring for another century. To enable this, we are seeking any possible help as part of our fundraising efforts. Any contribution, no matter the size, will help to support the essential works.
