    Story

Charlie and Corey Merrington are 13yr old twins from the mining areas of the North East of England, a town in County Durham called Peterlee.

After their mum, Marie, noticed something didn't appear right with their milestones as they were getting older, she approached medical professionals for advice, expecting it being down to the fact they had been born almost 10weeks premature. However, at the age of 4, the boys' were both diagnosed with a rare muscle wasting, life limiting condition called DUCHENNE MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY. The average life expectancy at this time is approx. 15-18yrs, & there is approx only 2500 diagnosed cases within the UK, 2 of those being these brothers. DMD sufferers are predominantly males, and it is even rarer a condition in the female gender.

The brothers are already permanently in electric wheelchairs so their quality of life is already being majorly effected. Their mum, Marie, single handedly looks after the boys, without any outside help, and since finding out the twins have a 'wish' list of everything they would like to do before it becomes impossible, we have opened this page to raise as much money as possible to help make those dreams and wishes a reality for the whole family, making amazing memories Marie and the boys can cherish forever!

As a mum, Marie has 2 wishes of her own. 1 is for there to one day be a cure so that other parents don't have to go through what she does, watching her boys deteriate and slowly die before her eyes, and the other is to raise awareness of a condition that very few people have ever heard of.

We would like to thank each and every one of you for reading a quick rundown on the boys, and show massive gratitude for any donations from yourselves.

I am a mum of 3 boys, 2 of which are autistic, from the same area as the Merrington family. I am a close family friend, and have witnessed for myself how amazing the boys' mum is, and how much they would love to lead a life that you would expect any 13 year old boys to lead.
