    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

    Story

Hi! For those of you who don't know, my name is Cecilia Baverstock, I'm 18 and have been given a place at The Oxford School of Drama, from September 2018. The school was named one of the top 5 drama schools in the UK, and I am humbled to be one of the youngest candidates accepted on the Three Year Course in Acting.

I applied to the school as the demanding and vocational curriculum is the best fit for me, and the school itself is so unlike the rest. I felt comfortable, happy and at ease in the countryside location. The process of auditioning at all the drama schools was rigorous, and at times, discouraging. But once the offer from Oxford came, the prospect of starting training helped me push through my A-levels, and kept me going when a close family member fell seriously ill. It made me determined to make the most of every day, and every day of training to come.

As you can tell, I'm really excited and grateful for this opportunity, but because of my age, I'm not eligible for the funding that most of the other students are. For example, the Advanced Learners Loan, as you have to be 19 or over when the course begins.

And that's where this crowdfunding comes in.

I've been lucky enough to be granted some scholarships from two trusts I applied to. However, it still isn't quite enough to make a dent in the school fees; the school is private, hence I cannot apply for a student loan like you usually would for university.

I intend to fund the course by working full-time throughout my summer break, and I plan to maintain a weekend job when the course begins, I've also saved up from the job I had in year 13. Your donations would go towards the course fees only, my mother and I will fund the living expenses.

I would be so grateful to receive any donations, however big or small, and I hope that one day I will be able to have a platform to give back to all of you. :)

    Many, many thanks,

    Ce x

I'm Ce, I'm 18 & from London/Mexico. I'm currently on summer break, I just finished my A-levels. I am pursuing a career in acting & I hope one day I will have a platform to raise awareness for mental health in the UK, as it's an issue that has affected my family over the years
