I've raised £2700 to Pay for a professional Traffic Assessment of the A4119 in respect of the proposed development of 460 homes ref 16/1385/13 at Cefn yr Hendy.

As you are aware there has been a planning application submit on the last few green fields left in Miskin, known as Cefn yr Hendy. This development is for 460 homes plus a school and a sop. It will have a detrimental impact on everyone in the locality and further afield. We recognise that this land is in the Local Development Plan with the aid of a Grade Separation Junction. The applicant is arguing that this is not required and recommend that more traffic lights at Mwyndy Cross will do the trick.
The Traffic Assessments that have been provided clearly show that the A4119 is already over capacity with spurious readings of over 100% on many junctions in the network. This has been accepted by Rhondda Cynon Taff with a flippant comment that it will be dealt with in the future. As residents who will be severely impacted by these proposals we are making a stand and are saying to RCT that this just isn't good enough and is also unsafe for residents.
As a result we are commissioning our own Traffic assessment. We are lucky enough to be in touch with Mr Carl Tonks who is a Highways Consultant and was involved back in 2007 whereby the previous planning application was refused by the planning committee for half the amount of houses and some offices. Mr Tonks is very familiar with the case and has extensive experience in this field he was used by RCT at the time to argue that the Grade Separation Junction must be required.
We have instructed Mr Tonks to complete a traffic assessment, a rebuttal and to attend committee to present his findings. This will come to a total in the region of £2700. This is a target that can only be reached if we all chip in. To all those that have given, we thank from the bottom of our hearts and ask if you would be kind enough to give again, even if it is £5 or £10. We really need this money to challenge and he may be our best shot if we are to be in with a chance of having this application turned down.
Please, please, save our green fields, save our health and well being and save the A4119 from being further congested, putting an economic stranglehold on the area and further afield in the valleys and surrounding areas. Development control committee is confirmed as next week - 19th October. Please, help us reach this target.*If for any reason we fund raise more than is required, the remaining funds raised will be donated to local charity '2 Wish upon a Star' which helps local bereaved families.
