Story

So after having an ankle injury originally i was just going along and not taking part but im going for it!

this will by far be the toughest challenge i have ever taken on 24 miles up 3 hills and rolling back down haha , but with this wee face being the reason its most def gonna be worth it.

"Hello, I am Mae Fox, I live in Doncaster in Yorkshire, and I am 9 years old. I am asking if you could support Hope4Mae please, so I can practice walking on my own and get the treatment that I need to keep walking?I was born very early and my Mummy and Daddy learned that I had a brain injury because of my birth. I have got cerebral palsy, which makes my arms and legs hard to move, even though I tried so hard to get strong, and I couldn’t stand up or play with my brothers. I had a wish that I could walk, play on the trampoline and maybe ride a bike, just like my big brothers do every day. I would really love to dance!

Mummy and Daddy got to work raising lots of money so I could go to America to have a very special operation. I couldn’t have this help in England. Dr Park worked magic on my spine to make my muscles wake up and start to work. Since then I have worked really hard with my Physio and special people at training centres called ‘Footsteps’ and ‘Walk this Way’. We had to keep raising money to pay for all those people to help me get strong.

This year I have been learning to walk with tripod sticks! I am getting stronger and I like to walk with my sticks whenever I can. Before I had to always use my wheelchair, so now I like it better! I keep doing my exercises and I am getting stronger all the time.

Because I am growing all the time I need new equipment which I can’t get from the Doctors in England. I will need some new special splints for my legs, new shoes to help me stand flat and new tripod sticks when I get bigger. Mummy and Daddy keep working hard to raise money for me to keep taking every step I can.

Now my muscles in my legs are stretched as much as they can. As I grow I will not be able to balance so well, or stand so tall. We just found out that I need hamstring surgery to lengthen my tendons so I can stretch much further. Now I have to go back to see Dr Park in America. It will be nice to see him again and I am excited about being able to move even more than I can now, and maybe I can run one day like you!

Thank you for any help you

can give me, Love Mae xx"
