Story

Celtic Warriors is the only wheelchair rugby club based in Cornwall. Training in St Austell, we offer disabled people the opportunity to play a sport which is great for both physical and mental health. Recently formed last year the club already has a group of regular players with increasing numbers of enquiries from people wanting to try this fantastic sport.

Wheelchair rugby has been an enormous help to me personally in my recovery after contracting severe sepsis and the subsequent amputation of my legs. In addition to significantly improving my physical health, I found the sense of 'belonging' again and mixing with like-minded people great for my mental health. Wheelchair rugby helped to put a smile back on my face again!

Funding equipment purchases, however, remains an ongoing issue as we try to grow the club and enable more people to play. Wheelchair rugby is an expensive sport in terms of sourcing both playing chairs and consumables such as tyres, inner tubes etc. Any donation you can give the Celtic Warriors would be greatly appreciated - it will, hopefully, help to put smiles back onto the faces of more disabled people who would like to play rugby Thank you.

Al, Treasurer, Celtic Warriors wheelchair rugby club.
