Story
In March 2019 I was working in A & E and I saw William's Mum being rushed through the department I asked as she rushed by if she was ok as I have known Nicola for years we went to the same comprehensive , she said no William has cancer ... I felt heartbroken for her and her family for the journey ahead.
William is turning 5 in March , I am raising money to give him the best Birthday ever. Myself, my husband Marcus, Tanya, Sam and Susie who are good friends of Nicola and family will be running/walking 100 miles, which is more or Less from Llantwit Major to St Davids in February to raise the money for William.
The Journey So far ,
William was diagnosed with high grade Medulloblastoma that has metastasised into his spine. Williams treatment so far has been :
Brain surgery to put a reservoir into his head to reduce the fluid and take a biopsy from his neck. He then went on to have five and a half intensive treatments of chemotherapy and had his stem cells were harvested. William then has another brain surgery to remove as much of the mass as was possible , only 85% was removed as it was too dangerous to remove it all. Following this he then had another intensive chemotherapy session and his harvested stem cells were put back in.
June 2020 Nicola and family received the devastating news that Williams cancer was terminal which has broken their hearts in to pieces. This was followed by another five rounds of maintenance chemotherapy followed by six weeks of of full brain and spine radiotherapy. This shrunk the cancer , however further scans revealed a new tumour on his spine which grew either during radiotherapy or in the weeks after. Another devastating blow for the family. If this is left untreated the tumour will grow, it will put pressure on the spine and William would lose the ability to walk and to go to the toilet . He would need a permanent catheter and to be on oxygen.
Therefore William will be undertaking chemotherapy every day which will be administered through his NG tube and every four weeks he will have chemotherapy specifically for his head area. Throughout his journey William has lost his mobility three times, he has been paralysed down the left side of his body , lost and regrown his hair three times . In his mum words " he has learnt to walk again and regained his mobility because he is stubborn and refuses to give up"

Throughout the eleven rounds of chemo , two brain surgeries and stem cell therapy , William contracted sepsis 3 times, E.Coli , fungal infection para flu and Mucositis. He has so many blood transfusions, blood platelets , Hickman lines and a permanent NG tube to feed him and administer medication.
What a warrior - these pictures we took when we had the privilege to meet William , he was so full of life and mischief. It was a happy day but one that was twinged with sadness .
Nicola and family have had to plan for Williams time when the meds stop working and his body can take no more . Words from Nicola
" I would die a the most painful death if it meant William could go on and have a happy and healthy life , I am broken , totally broken"
Every step we take for this challenge will be for William , every mile will remind us to always be brave and have courage like William has , every breath will remind us to take embrace life and to love everyone in our life unconditionally, every tear will remind us to be for strong for those who can not , and every wish will be William to wake up every morning with love and strength to fight his battle . Please donate to this cause and give William the BEST BIRTHDAY EVER xxx

Thankyou xxx
