My amazing friend Simon is fighting for life, in more ways than one. Here's the story from his son...

In early 2014, my dad was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer that attacks his lungs. Things were looking pretty bad after 6 months of “traditional” chemotherapy, when he was able to become part of a small trial of brand new experimental treatment.
For 2+ years he has been unable to work and his overall health has varied from bad to awful with the ups-and-downs of this developing treatment. Without it the prognosis isn’t good – maybe 3 months, as the tumours grow rapidly in the absence of ongoing chemotherapy.
My dad has been unable to access benefits for a variety of reasons and has had to live on his savings once sick pay from his employers ended. I live with him and contribute significantly from my own wages, but I know only too well the difficulties we face – covering mortgage, utilities, food etc. – month by month. His savings have now come to an end … because he’s survived far longer than we expected! My dad is struggling not only with severe illness, but serious financial needs.
If you are able to help my dad financially, I and the rest of the family would be immensely grateful. Our prayer is that we will raise enough money to keep my dad going until the end of the treatment … whatever the final outcome. And we are also extremely grateful to the friends who have taken on the burden of making this happen and supporting my dad in so many other ways.
