Chanel is a 17 year old girl and has had a huge change in her life that has had a drastic impact on her quality of life when she was diagnosed with severe essential tremor - she now struggles with this severity with basic things that other girls find easily to do such as eating, wearing earrings and even writing with a pen at school as her hands, head and legs constantly shake (tremor). This may not seem very big to some out there but it is one of the hardest mental disorders that will change you life when beta blockers no longer work. Many people have been driven to suicide by shaking disorders such as Robin Williams with his Parkinsons. When my friend opened up to me after a year, I was in complete shock and was honestly speechless - I started feeling depressed after a week or two because I was ashamed that I didn’t identify such thing that was affecting her basic actions as her bestfriend. Chanel has dropped out of college now because it has become worse and she cannot pursue her ambition of becoming a surgeon as surgeons require a medical test that cannot enable a student to become one with tremors (shaky hands and head). My friend has moved to live in Prague for a month now with her aunt and she has fell into a very deep depression. Although, I facetime her every night to keep her hopes high, she cannot stop me from bursting to tears when she tells me, “I’m still struggling”. So now, I cannot do my bit anymore, I will always be by her side but I cannot put any positive impact on her other than a surgery can. Chanel’s parents are also struggling in the UK and have been living on benefits for a while, they have saved up 4000 pounds so far but her surgery is 5250 pounds converted from euros. She has made it to the top of the list and hopes that she can get it as it will change her life as she never had expected it to change after this mental disorder kicked in - if not, procedures aren’t as fair as elsewhere in the world and she will need to apply again. So this time really is needing and I am on my knees when I ask you to please help us reach a target of £750 and please surprise us with more to reaching Chanel’s ambition. She is unaware of this and I would like to surprise her by giving her the surgery date as I know what her face would turn into then, considering what the surgery does.
