Story
In October 2019 our lives were turned upside down when our beautiful 3 year old daughter was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumour which due to its location cannot be removed.
Elsie was unwell for a few days with sickness and headaches which then led on to one of her eyes not responding, we knew something wasn’t right. Elsie had Hydrocephalus which is fluid build up on the brain which can be life threatening if untreated, luckily we had caught it in time. The tumour has been pushing on her ventricals which release the fluid. Thankfully after 2 operations the surgeons managed to relive the pressure by making a tiny hole in her brain.
We are exploring private treatments which the NHS cannot offer, we want the best treatment for our little girl. We have been told its inopperable due to its location as its right in the center of her brain, the Thalamus, also that chemo will only shrink it.
At the Harley Street Clinic, they are able to provide MRI-guided laser ablation using a Visualase™ system, which helps to treat tumours that were previously thought to be inoperable. A thin laser probe is inserted through a small hole into the brain. The tip of this probe emits laser energy to destroy the tumour while leaving surrounding healthy tissue undamaged unlike chemotherapy which also destroys healthy cells and brain tissue.
Any money not used for Elsies treatment or medical visits will be donated to the children‘s brain tumour charity, The little princess trust, John Radcliffe and Great Ormond Street Hospital.

4 years agoWe have asked for an opinion from the Dana Farber Hospital in Boston America which will be back in a weeks time, hopefully they can give us some other options. Elsie is doing brilliantly. To look at her you would never know she has a brain tumour. She’s brave and strong, a little warrior! She’s got this !!!! Thank you for all your continued support. It means so much. X

4 years agoLast week we got the news we was dreading. Elsie’s tumour has grown and she must start chemotherapy in the next few weeks. We knew at some point it would come to this but we never thought it would be so soon. We have had another second opinion on her new scans and discussed the laser ablation treatment but we have been told Elsie will be left very unwell, she could lose her mobility amongst other things which is unthinkable, it’s just too much of a risk due to its location.
