Weʼre raising £50,000 to fund a private cancer treatment for my daughter Elsie who has recently been diagnosed with a brain tumour which cannot be removed.

What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

Story

In October 2019 our lives were turned upside down when our beautiful 3 year old daughter was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumour which due to its location cannot be removed.

Elsie was unwell for a few days with sickness and headaches which then led on to one of her eyes not responding, we knew something wasn’t right. Elsie had Hydrocephalus which is fluid build up on the brain which can be life threatening if untreated, luckily we had caught it in time. The tumour has been pushing on her ventricals which release the fluid. Thankfully after 2 operations the surgeons managed to relive the pressure by making a tiny hole in her brain.

We are exploring private treatments which the NHS cannot offer, we want the best treatment for our little girl. We have been told its inopperable due to its location as its right in the center of her brain, the Thalamus, also that chemo will only shrink it.

At the Harley Street Clinic, they are able to provide MRI-guided laser ablation using a Visualase™ system, which helps to treat tumours that were previously thought to be inoperable. A thin laser probe is inserted through a small hole into the brain. The tip of this probe emits laser energy to destroy the tumour while leaving surrounding healthy tissue undamaged unlike chemotherapy which also destroys healthy cells and brain tissue.

Any money not used for Elsies treatment or medical visits will be donated to the children‘s brain tumour charity, The little princess trust, John Radcliffe and Great Ormond Street Hospital.

A big thank you to my friend Kara’s little girl Tiana who cut off her beautiful long hair to raise money for Elsie’s treatment and the children’s brain tumour charity. Her hair will be donated to the little princess trust who make wigs for children who have lost their hair due to cancer. Tiana you are amazing and very brave! You should be proud. xxx

But seem to be taking their time. I seem to be chasing weekly with no outcome, it’s very frustrating. We continue to hope and pray Elsie’s tumour has not grown since her last scan. Thank you all again for your continued support. Elsie is doing brilliantly at the moment, enjoying her new nursery and we have lots of lovely things to look forward to in the coming weeks. Off to see Peppa Pig on Sunday which she is really excited about. This was us at Disney on Ice a couple of weeks ago.

Elsie’s scan is now on the 4th of February. We didn’t get the news we wanted from the surgeon in Liverpool, Conor Mallucci, he has an open MRI machine and renowned for removing complicated brain tumours. He said he would be unable to remove the tumour as it’s just too risky due to its location and unfortunately Elsie’s tumour doesn’t have a core, it’s like spaghetti invading healthy brain tissue. We still have no answer from the Harley St clinic with regards to the Laser procedure, they have all the information they need ........
