We are planning a trip of a lifetime, in partnership with Camps International to Kenya and Peru. Camps International positively encourage people who are travelling with them to fundraise as much as they can towards the trip. Megan and I have been away with Camps International before with our old secondary school (The Stonehenge School) and alongside two other schools to Borneo in 2014. Since then we have always had interest in going away with the company again.
We have come to the decision that we wish to travel to Kenya and Peru. Which we are certain will give us the experience of a lifetime and that we will have a beneficial impact on the people we meet, and work we take part in.
Whilst in Kenya we will live and work together with local communities to improve local life such as improving school infrastructure, reduce human wildlife conflict through elephant conservation projects, plant indigenous tress, dig classroom foundations, lay bricks, plaster, paint and decorate buildings. Expand waterholes for wildlife, clear roads and build elephant deterrent fences. We will also be taking part in a 7 day trek to the peak of Kilimanjaro.
Whilst in Peru we will be living and working alongside rural Peruvian communities and focusing on improving their standard of living. Activities in Peru will include, laying foundations, mixing cement, plastering, painting, decorating buildings and landscaping. We will also be taking part in a 4 day trek to Machu Picchu whilst in Peru.
The money raised will go towards our travel costs, but the majority of the money raised will go to the projects we will be working on in Kenya and Peru.
