Every year the streets of Chard are taken over by a mass of colour, light and sound. The annual carnival parade draws people from far and wide to experience the spectacular procession as it wieves through the streets of Chard. The cost of putting on the carnival increases every year and, with the committee being made up of volunteers, raising enough funds is an ongoing battle. Once the cost of putting on the carnival is met, any extra money is distributed to local groups, organisations and charities which benefit from grants at the end of the year. Money raised through this page, along with the generous street collection from carnival night will help to keep the tradition alive and support local good causes.
