The purpose of this fundraising is to raise money to build a Sacred Heart Educational Centre in Kenya. The new school will provide for the Eldoret community, whose lives are impacted by extreme poverty. Life is particularly difficult for the children of the Langas Slums; many of these young people are orphaned and it often falls to the eldest to take responsibility for looking after their younger siblings. A lack of clean water also means that childhood mortality rates are high and the health of many of the children is under threat. The Sacred Heart Educational Centre will provide clean drinking water to 800 students, as well as ensuring that young people from the age of 4-11 years old have the opportunity of an education and the chance to escape the poverty of their birth.
