I have been accepted to participate in an 11-day International Antarctic Expedition hosted by Robert Swan and 2041 that will take place March 2017, where we will gain knowledge about today’s issues of climate change, renewable energy, sustainability and how it affects our present and future worldwide, along with a better understanding of the continent’s fragile ecosystem, experience its unique wildlife and observe the magnificent landscape of Antarctica.

The company 2041 was founded by polar explorer, environmental leader and public speaker Robert Swan, OBE. As the first person in history to walk to both the North and South Poles, Swan has dedicated his life to the preservation of Antarctica by the promotion of recycling, renewable energy and sustainability to combat the effects of climate change.

2041’s mission is to build on Swan’s dedication by informing, engaging and inspiring the next generation of leaders to take responsibility, to be sustainable, and to know that now is the time for action in policy development, sustainable business generation and future technologies.
In our ever-changing world, climate change, environmental sustainability and renewable energy will have a significant impact on our future – as individuals and as a society.

Having worked at the BBC for 15 years, I left last year to pursue some life goals, one of those was to get my degree. With a passion for sport and business, I enrolled on to the Sport Management degree at the University of Derby and it has been the best thing (apart from my daughter) that I have ever done. This here thing called 'Life' is a precious thing and you only get one chance at it, so as I am at the next phase of my life/career - I want to make a difference and help to inspire the next generation of leaders the best way I can and in partnership with Swan and 2041, together we can build a promising and hopeful future, united in the goal to protect the Antarctic Treaty and to create a better tomorrow, today.
